If I were to bet money, I’d say these are Big E red tabs, but as you can see the tab is not fully present. And the leather patch is gone, leaving behind beautiful lemon yellow stitching.  (They stopped using this in the 70s) I spent nearly an hour with my dating resources and reached out to another vintage Levi’s specialist and we both feel these are Big E. Because of: the presence of lemon yellow stitching, the single stitch inside the back pockets, absence of care tag, and absence of the diamond arcuate on the back pocket stitching. If the big E tab would actually be present, it would be a no brainer, these would be $1200+, but I can’t guarantee.., so I’m meeting you in the middle.

(Follow up: it’s been confirmed by another specialist, these are Big E)

EXPECTATIONS OF VINTAGE JEANS

Sold as is. Keep in mind, vintage jeans are not new jeans. Every pair is at least 20 years old, most are older. This means they’ve been worn and likely have signs of wear - i.e. thinning areas, loose threads, signs of previous repair work, discolorations, faint (or not so faint stains), organic distressing, wear at the rivets, wear at the button holes. I do my best to describe these areas/signs of wear&tear, so please - before you buy - understand that you may receive your jeans and there will be signs of aging. Most buy vintage jeans wanting this, but if you want pristine new looking jeans, vintage likely isn’t for you. And that’s A-OK!
